Big Sky Regional Events
September 18
Beartooth Highway Drive
Starting Friday evening of the 17th, we are all invited for a cocktail party and casual dinner at Jim Webster's house—311 S. 3rd Ave. in Bozeman.
We will meet at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Bozeman (6195 E. Valley Center Rd.) at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Members can book a room at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Bozeman. They are holding a block of 5 rooms for the weekend until September 16th at a discounted rate of $179/night ($197 including taxes). To book online click here, or call them directly at 406-522-1535 and ask for Cheryl—under the group name “Porsche Club”. (If you're booking online you have to update the dates or it will try to book you for a 4 day stay.)
The scenic route includes Gardiner, Tower Junction, Top of the World, and Red Lodge, and returning to Bozeman via Highway 78 and I-90. Recently, Chris Steuer took the drive and stated, "I did get stuck in 4-5 traffic jams in the Lamar Valley for a total of 45 minutes. The road climbing out of Cooke City is still a little rough and every small bridge crossing had really bad potholes. Construction is ongoing at Tower Junction like last year (dirt still) but the new bridge is in and the current road drives over it." The drive took him 6.5 hours with 3 bathroom breaks.
Since we will be stopping Red Lodge, our round trip drive will probably take nine to ten hours. You may choose to stay overnight Saturday in Red Lodge, but get accommodations now!
Please RSVP jwebster587@gmail.com if you plan to drive.
